Post-Christmas Blues

Is it just me or did Christmas pass SUPER quickly?! I miss it already! Well, it will soon be 2011 (!!!) so that is something to look forward to. Another thing I am excited for? Making use of my Christmas goodies *cough MY LOUBOUTIN SHOES, green sewing machine, H&M Lanvin t-shirt cough*. Haven't taken any pictures of my presents yet, but there will probably be a few coming soon. For now...

(Late) Merry Christmas!

Another thing. As I have done 2 mediocre reviews of some films I recently saw, you should check out some real ones by my brother. He's gunna be big.

Laters.

Black Swan

Hey there everyone. In my previous post I mentioned how much I wanted to see the new thriller "Black Swan". Well, today I watched it. Alone. My review? I really really liked it. Some of it was hard to watch (I may or may have not covered my glasses on a few occasions), but it was really interesting and the ending was rather sad. I recommend it, but just remember, if you watch it, close your eyes when you can sense that 'something is going to happen' moment. Don't say I didn't warn you! Let me add, I used to do ballet (from the ages of 3-13) and that may have contributed to my liking of this film. The dancing is beautiful, but it makes me cringe big time when she cracks her feet and all that ballet shiznit. That, my friends, is why I am glad I quit ballet when I did. Yes it's beautiful, but I would not be able to endure the pain! I had just started pointe when I quit, which is so much harder than it looks btw, and my feet would be screwed and I wouldn't be able to walk in heels. So, no offense ballet dancers, but I would rather my feet be normally shaped and undamaged. Thanks.

Beyond jealousy right now.

Feel Good Film?

Why hello there. Now, I know I usually get off topic, and yes, this is a fashion blog, but I would like you tell you about a film I recently saw with Mama erin-style. (That nickname sounded better in my head). The film 'Catfish' was called 'the feel good film of Christmas' recently in a review. I disagree BIG TIME. Yes, it was very good and interesting, and I highly recommend it, but it was quite the opposite! I was sitting on the edge of my seat at moments, but towards the end it was actually quite emotional. Not in a 'I can't stop crying right now' sense, like in the beloved 'Notebook' or 'Toy Story 2' (what? oh, come on! I am not alone on that one... right?) RIGHT, anyways, as I was saying... it's not sad in the traditional way, but more in the way that you feel bad for the person. Sorry if that is nonsense, and if I have ruined it for anyone or something, but it was definitely a must-see.

Next on my list?

'Black Swan'

Now, my Christmas 'feel good film', you may ask?

Arguably the best film of all time.

Holy Christmas.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas!

Good evening all. Just wanted to show y'all what I bought today in American Apparel. I have recently discovered that there is a lot to buy before even receiving Christmas presents (for me, anyays!). I also wanted to inform you that I am working my way though a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of the Hollywood greats. It's quite a party up in my house, as you can tell.

All items above: American Apparel

Favourite song at the mo:

See you when it's my Christmas recap post!

Sorry about not posting, but as I warned you, my blogspot account went a lil' crazy (well, I am just a granny who can't work out how to use new space age thangs), but here is the latest and greatest in the world of Erin.....

Best Christmas Present in the Entire World. Yes, it deserves capital letters at the beginning of each word. These, my friends, are leopard printed, gold studded, Christian Louboutin trainers.

LOVE. MY. LIFE.

I am sorry to announce that Blogspot is not letting me add photographs to my posts or edit the layout at this moment in time, so my update will hopefully be coming to y'all soon. 'Til then, I bid ye farewell. Peace.

Gingerbread men + Glee Christmas Soundtrack = Nirvana

Hey everyone. I am currently in bed, watching Toy Story 3 and knitting. It's nearly the winter holiday which means it's coming up to the most awesome holiday EVER... Christmas!!!! I have been jamming to my new Glee Christmas CD, watching festive films and making gingerbread men. Life at its best, my friends. These are the things that keep me going when it is FREEZING outside. Oh yah, another thing that makes the winter cold bearable? Chunky knits and thermal vests. It's so cold I have considered sewing myself into a thermal vest and leggings. Yes, it's like Antarctica out there, but hey! That means layering - wearing my favourite clothes together! Me likey likey. Now, onto the more important things...

What I am reading:
This new edition of Lola (Issue 11) was off the chain, as per usual. I am pretty certain Lula is my favourite magazine, apart from 'I <3>
Basics, I laaaave it.

What I am listening to:

Nothing to explain really... I am not sure if you knew, but I kiiiinda like Glee. Kinda.

Oh, and my friends are sort of fans...

cough cough...

More Music:

Sleigh Bells - newest love. It's 2 people who perform angry rock that some times reminds me of cheerleading cheers, mixed with guitars and drums, with a little bit of rage and electro tings. Rather amusing, and as we all know, I love the whole cheerleading thang.

Excuse the quality of the sound and try to understand where my liking for them comes from. I am still not sure why I am so fond of them.

And now I have nothing to talk about...

God rest ye merry readers.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

HAY HAY HAY! How's everybody feelin'? I am super excited because it is officially ONE MONTH UNTIL CHRISTMAS DAY. Doesn't it make you feel warm inside? It just makes me think of being all cozy, cuddled up with the fam and my beloved Milo (dog), snug as a bug in a rug, and watching crappy television. Another thing that isn't too terrible about Christmas? PRESENTS!!! This year my list for Santa consists of a sewing machine and clothes. How original of me. I already know that my Mother has purchased a tee for me (poet and I know it) from the Lanvin for H&M collection! This is gunna be a good Christmas, my friends.

You will be mine. Oh yes, you will be mine.

Another thing I would like to mention is that the Walsh family just got cooler. Is that possible, I hear you ask? The fact that my Father and Brother were in last Sunday's 'Style' magazine (the one that comes with 'The Times') saying what they want for Christmas. It was pretty rad.

My Dad doesn't always smile like that.

Last Saturday I went to my friend's party, and like I already said, her name is Tilda and she is awesome. It was pretty crazy and I only knew a few people but it was entertaining and, come on, it's a party and that means dressing up, so I am happy!

My Inspiration - Taylor Momsen

What I wore: Cardigan - Urban Outfitters, Top and Shorts - Reformation, Tights - Henry Holland, Shoes - Doc Martens, Necklace - Marc by Marc Jacobs.

I swear I am not as vain as I seem!

Due to popular demand, I would like to mention a few of my 'Winter Inspirations':

1. This is England '86 - As I said in my last post, LOVE the Skinhead style.

2. Audrey Hepburn - C'mon, when is she not an inspiration?

3. Taylor Momsen - She can be annoying, I admit, but she goes with her own style and that is admirable. People argue that she dresses inappropriately for her age, but like she said in an interview, 'when can you dress like this without people creating a big deal out of it?'.
True, some of her outfits are questionable, but it's her body, she wears what she wants, and frankly, she would look beautiful in a potato sack.

Yes, that is probably the strangest combination for inspiration, but I am sticking to it!

As you all know, I am a devoted Gleek. Well, you can imagine how excited I was to find out that this June I am going to the Glee Live Tour with a couple buddies. OMG OMG OMG OMG.

P.S, that is 'Oh My Glee', not God. Naturally.

Biggest Song Obsession of the Day:

It's been nice catching up, but I gotta go and watch some more old school Sex and the City episodes. And yes, I am equally excited about Christmas as I am for the release of 'Sex and the City 2' on DVD. Woop woop!

Too-da-loo.

Winter Whites

'Ello me lov-a-lees. Il fait froid. Il fait très froid. Right, so this weekend just gone I attended my friend Beth's birthday partay and, as I told you in my last post, I was a cheerleader with my buddy Ruby. I nearly peed myself I was so excited to wear my epic cheerleading uniform, but luckily I was too busy dancing around I didn't. Saved by the wonderful sounds of 'Glee'.

Hey Mickey, you're so fine! You're so fine, you blow my mind!

This Saturday is my snazzy friend's birthday party, and yes I am a social butterfly. JOKES. Back to the story, her name is Tilda and she has incredible taste in music and fashion so shout out to Tilds! I am planning on wearing my new Doc Martens and new Henry Holland tights from Urban Outfitters. Before I show a photograph, let me just tell you about how I got to be the owner of this awesome vintage preppy cardigan. One of my best friends, Beth R, has a super cool older sister called Tamar. She is so funny and has an immense fashion sense. A few weeks ago she told me that she had a cardigan that was too small for her that she wanted to pass on to me. I may have squealed with joy (come on, free clothes!) and me being the goldfish I am, I forgot for like a month and picked it up last week. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! If you ever read this, THANK YOU SO MUCH TAMAR!!! It fits perfectly and I will definitely be wearing it this winter when it gets even colder (insert crying here). Here's a photo of the newest additions to the collection that is my slightly over flowing wardrobe:

Tights from Henry Holland at Urban Outfitters. Raunchy.

My incredible FREE cardigan and new DMs. New winter staples!

Oh yeah, my winter project it to find my Mother's old sewing machine and start making my own clothes! I am very excited and I will update you when it is up and running :)

MY WINTER INSPIRATION -

This is England '86, don't listen to every one else, you were INCREDS.

I love the girls...

And the lads *CRINGE*. I mean boys...

Especially you...

Harvey. Mmmm. Yes, I do realize that I probably have the weirdest taste in the world.
Especially for a 14 year old girl who should be screaming over The Jo Bros and Justina Bieber.
I would rather look at Harvey from 'This is England' or Jeff Buckley. Thanks.

Well, I'm off to the Pep Rally....

Before I cheer my boo-tay off, I LOVE MISFITS EVEN MORE. Season 2 did not let me down at all!

Oof, my heart! Nathan, I missed you. How I love thee.

PEACE.

Global Warming, Shmobal Shwarming...?

Haaaayyyy. Basically, I have not got loads to ramble on about so here is my attempt:

- It is too cold for words, hence the title of this post. My best friend is the radiator. I spent my German lesson hugging one.

Hello, lover.

- I recently watched a film called 'Mary & Max' which I am in love with!!! It is incredible! It's claymation and proper tear jerker too. That, my friends, is a good combo in my book. Read a full review on my brother's blog (Ooh, the Walsh family are stepping up their game, yo).

- This Saturday I am attending a fancy dress party for my buddy's birthday and I am being a cheerleader with my pal Ruby. I ordered them from an American website, so they are obvs the shiznit. Word.

Once I put it on I never want to take it off.

We are currently learning this. No, of course I did not already know it off by heart. Cough.

Come on, who doesn't want to be a cheerleader?!

- I saw a preview of the Lanvin for H&M stuff and am thrilled. Lanvin but cheaper? SIGN ME UP. It better not sell out like the Comme for H&M or I might just have to buy the incredible expensive stuff. Hmm. Life is hard.

- Christmas is more than a month away and I am practically already peeing myself with excitement. Ice-skating. Wooly jumpers, scarves and hats. Old crimbo films... PRESENTS!!!!!!

- I just ran out of things to say. Here's an attractive photo to satisfy you and distract you from my lack of creativeness at this moment in time.

Bonsoir, mes cheries!

Half Term Shananigans

Hey hey hey. I have had requests to update my blog more often, but my life is pretty chilled atm. Not much to report, but I will have a little ramble to hush those certain people.

My half term has been quiet so far and I am currently in Cornwall. Robin Kegel has been staying in our 'cottage' here recently. He shapes surf boards and is travelling the world. He is originally from Cali, which obvs means he has that 'laid back' approach that is really nice. This is a link to his website: http://www.gatoheroi.com/ and here are photos of him (from google):

My days are spent watching bad telly and... wait for it... knitting! Yes, I am a 14 year old granny. Another hobbie I have recently discovered is painting pottery. There is a little place next door to our Cornwall house where I have painted 3, yes 3, different items. I have a natural talent for it, I'm tellin' ya. OH YEAH, forgot to mention... I GOT AN IPHONE! I am pretty bad at using it, and I may have dropped it in paint at the pottery place, but it's so fun to mess around with. Changing settings, and what not.

I'm lovin' it lovin' it lovin' it.

I'm having the time of my life.

I don't want this post to have nothing to do with fashion or art or something creative, so I will show you some bits and bobs that I am liking at this moment in time.

This awesome blog: http://hypebeast.com/

This epic film:

These bad boys:

Did I mention I spent a few years of my childhood with the biggest Hello Kitty obsession EVER? Well, thank the lord I didn't see these during those years.

OH YAH, remember that 'Rankin Live' shoot that me and the fam went to last summer? Well, they made a book with some of their favourite photographs, a book for the men and a book for the women, and yours truly was chosen! The book arrived in the post and my Mother showed me (kept is as a surprise for me) and it is rad! Thanks, Rank...(in)!

Here is me on the Rankin website (woop):

Trends. To be honest, I dislike the term 'trends'. People have their own style so I don't see why they should feel like they have to follow a certain ' look'. Yes, I know that a lot of people out there feel more comfortable when they are 'in' with the rest of the crowd, but I feel differently. Each day I can not commit myself to a 'trend'. What is the fun of that?! If I want to dress like a granny that day, I will. If I am feeling a grunge day then I will go with that. It can be argued that those are trends in themselves, but I like to switch it up with my emotions or atmosphere of where ever I am. Despite the fact that I am not a fan of 'trends' here are some that I am a fan of, from Vogue:

Trust me, it's not as bad as it sounds. It includes quite a lot of Miu Miu, so I'm down with that.

Not quite, but rather fetching.

Well, that is no news there. Anything Miu Miu usually has me giddy.
ESPECIALLY THESE:

Ooh, these are perty...

MMM SPARKLES!

SOZ. Magpie moment. Yummy sparkles.

I will stop myself before the whole A/W collection is on here.

Another trend I am fond of, sorry animal lovers:

FUR.
Yes, I like animals, but you can't wear it if it's alive now, can you?
Sorry, Cruella DeVil moment.

Hubba hubba.

May I just mention, I love John Galliano.

My last trend for today -

Those are all the 'trends' I can handle for today.

Some things I am looking forward to:

- Misfits is coming back on telly some time in November! SHWEET!

- HALLOWEEN! I actually have not got a plan this year, so don't be surprised if I end up watching a scary film at home. Alone. Preferably in the dark. Then regretting it for a week, just like I did with 'The Ring'. I watched it with my friend, in her attic, at midnight. In the dark.
I slept with the light on for two weeks. True story!

Here is a lil summin summin for y'all -

MILO PHONE HOME.
